Looking for things to do in the Silver Lake area? In addition to the breathtaking Silver Lake Sand Dunes, the area offers many unique attractions and recreational opportunities.

Beaches

Silver Lake is known for its beautiful sugar sand beaches on the shores of Lake Michigan. The most easily accessible beach is Little Sable Point Lighthouse Beach, which features a large parking area, restroom facilities, and a historic brick lighthouse. Just a half mile north of the lighthouse beach is Golden Township Park, which includes access to the Silver Creek Channel. Parking is limited so come early to claim your spot.

If you have an ORV, be sure to make a trip to the Silver Lake Sand Dunes ORV Area Beach that is only accessible by way of the dunes. Last, but not least, Cedar Point Beach is located between Silver Lake and Pentwater off of B-15/Ridge Road. This secluded spot also features a shaded picnic area.

Val-Du Lakes Resort is also conveniently located near other West Michigan beach towns such as Pentwater, Ludington, and Whitehall, providing countless options for day trips.

Golfing

The beautiful rolling countryside of Silver Lake and its surrounding areas is a prime location for great golf courses. Golden Sands Golf Course, located right in Silver Lake, is a fun par 4 course that the whole family can enjoy. The Colonial Golf Course, located a short drive away in Hart, is a nine-hole par 30 heritage course that is great for beginners and experts alike.

Lighthouses

There are two historic lighthouses nearby including Silver Lake’s own Little Point Sable Lighthouse and the Big Sable Point Lighthouse located just 30 minutes north in Ludington. The lighthouses, both erected in the mid-1870s, are still in operation today and can be toured throughout the summer season.
